AIMS AI Programme for Women

AIMS is a Manchester Digital applied AI programme that gives women the opportunity to develop practical experience by working on a real business challenge.

Participants will be placed into small teams and matched with a small or medium-sized business from Greater Manchester or the North West. Each team will spend six weeks working full-time, Monday to Friday, with the business to explore how AI or automation could help address a genuine operational challenge.

Projects may involve areas such as improving business processes, automating repetitive administrative work, analysing data, developing dashboards or testing how AI tools could be applied within an organisation.

Participants will receive support from Manchester Digital, Manchester Metropolitan University, the participating business and experienced industry mentors throughout the programme.

Who is the programme for?

AIMS is designed to support women who already have a foundation in technology or AI and now want an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a professional setting.

You may be suitable if you:

• Have completed a degree, bootcamp, course or other training related to AI, data or technology
• Have used AI tools or features through employment, education or personal projects
• Are changing careers and have some relevant technical or AI experience
• Are a recent graduate looking to gain practical experience
• Are interested in solving real business problems using AI or automation
• Can commit to the eight-week programme on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday

You do not need previous professional experience in an AI role. However, the programme is not intended as an introduction for complete beginners, and participants should have some existing experience or understanding that they are ready to apply.

Places are limited. Eligible applicants will be invited to an informal readiness conversation to discuss their experience, interests, availability and suitability for the programme.

There is no cost to participate in AIMS.
