Manchester Digital is proud to have been awarded ‘Best Tech Not-For-Profit of the Year’ at She Can Code’s Power Up Awards, in recognition of our ongoing impactful work to increase diversity and inclusion in the tech sector.
The Power Up Awards celebrate the individuals and organisations driving positive change across the technology industry. Following public voting this summer, a panel of judges considered all finalists and voting results before selecting the overall winners. The annual awards ceremony will take place in London on 17 September, bringing together leaders, changemakers and advocates, along with all of the winners, from across the industry.
Manchester Digital MD Katie Gallagher OBE said: “We’re delighted that our commitment to diversity and inclusion has been recognised by She Can Code’s Power Up Awards. While we see progress, there is still much more to do – particularly in ensuring that women not only enter the tech sector but also stay and thrive in leadership roles. Our MentorHER and EmpowerHER programmes were created to address exactly these challenges and have already had a real impact.”
This award shines a spotlight on Digital Her, Manchester Digital’s flagship programme designed to inspire and support more women into tech. Since its launch in 2018, Digital Her has:
- Reached over 7,000 women and girls
- Supported more than 200 schools and colleges
- Built a vibrant community of over 400 ‘Real Role Models’ who volunteer their time to share career journeys and inspire the next generation
Alongside MentorHER and EmpowerHER, the Digital Her programme also includes initiatives such as:
- Industry Insight Days for school and college students
- The Digital Her Podcast
- Driving Diversity Day as part of the wider Digital Skills Festival
Through these initiatives, Digital Her is helping to dismantle barriers, provide role models, and create lasting support networks for women at every stage of their career.
