Manchester Metropolitan University launches new MBA programme for responsible leadership

Manchester Metropolitan University has launched a new, two-year, part-time MBA programme, designed for responsible leaders, managers, and employers. Using a blended learning approach, the MBA is aimed for students who want to learn flexibly around work, family and other commitments.

New hybrid learning approaches mean classes will consist of students working and learning together both face-to-face and remotely in real time. This approach to teaching and learning, also known as ‘HyFlex’, means classes do not need to take place with all students online or all in-person. Instead, students will be able to fully interact with their peers and take part in classes regardless of whether they are attending in-person or virtually.

With a start date of September 2024, the programme is currently open for applications. Developed with experiential learning at its core, it will focus on contemporary issues such as sustainability, digitalisation, ethical management and wellbeing.

Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the top modern universities for research quality with 30% of their research, across more than 740 academics, has been rated as world-leading (Research Excellence Framework 2021) and the Manchester Metropolitan Business School is proud to be in the elite 1% of business schools worldwide due to being triple-accredited; by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA. The new Manchester Met MBA programme is research enhanced and co-created with industry experts, to give students the tools to take their career to the next level.

MBA Programme Director, Dr. Anastasia Kynighou said, “‘Our Manchester Met MBA is future-focused, people-centred, and research-informed and we have designed it having the highest academic standards in mind, up-to-date research developments in the field, and whilst being in constant dialogue with our industry experts. Students joining our Manchester Met MBA will embark on a fascinating journey of knowledge, self-development and self-understanding which will shape and transform their life and career.”

Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business School are investing in state-of-the-art equipment and approaches to ensure a high-quality experience regardless of where students learn. The HyFlex approach was originally developed as a recognition that modern education systems need to be increasingly flexible as technology and ways of working change. The model became more popular during the pandemic, and Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business School are aiming to become an exemplar for other universities by formally integrating this method of teaching into their MBA’s programme design and by responding to scholarly calls to re-imagine and re-engineer higher education.

With ties to businesses throughout Manchester, the MBA programme presents a compelling choice for individuals throughout the city seeking to enhance their leadership abilities and expand their professional networks. Throughout the course, students will develop strong connections with, and work closely with, their peers not only during class time but also during career support activities which centre around creating their personal story, networking and creating an executive toolkit, masterclasses and guest talks from industry speakers as well a study abroad trip. Peer-to-peer learning is at the heart of the Manchester Met MBA and hyflex learning will ensure that professional networks develop and deepen throughout the course and across geographical boundaries.

As Manchester Metropolitan University commemorates its 200th anniversary, the new MBA programme will nurture a new generation of business leaders, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.

The programme will be showcased within a launch event at the Edwardian Hotel on 23rd March where interested applicants, business owners and employers are invited to join to hear about the benefits and skills the programme will develop for themselves or their employees.
