Greater Manchester strives to become best in class for Information Governance

Greater Manchester strives to become best in class for Information Governance.

Over the past 16 months, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has been developing its information strategy to minimise potential harms that can come from bad data use and help ensure that data which is created and used by GM public sector organisations is of benefit to everyone. This may be achieved through better decision-making built on data, making available high-quality data for businesses and organisations to use, or enabling people to have a say in how and what their data gets used for.

A public consultation ran at the end of last year, asking people what they thought the focus of this strategy should be. After collating all the responses, we are now in a position to prioritise these actions, and are running 3 online and 3 offline workshops, each looking at a particular theme of people’s responses.

We are asking individuals, businesses and other organisations to join us in prioritising these actions, therefore helping GM to lead the way in Information Governance.

The workshops are:

  • Fostering trust through transparency (online) - Monday 13th Feb 13.00-15.00
  • Fostering trust through transparency (offline) - Wednesday 15th Feb 13.00-15.00
  • Responsible and ethical data use and inclusive governance (offline) - Tuesday 28th Feb 13.00- 15.00
  • Responsible and ethical data use and inclusive governance (online) - Wednesday 1st Mar 13.00-15.00
