UK-based PKI specialist Unsung has announced a strategic partnership with Crypto4A, a Canadian provider of quantum-safe, crypto-agile hardware security modules. The partnership positions Unsung to deliver quantum-ready cryptographic infrastructure for UK customers in government, defence, financial services, and critical national infrastructure, addressing growing demand for post-quantum cryptography readiness.
At the centre of Crypto4A's platform is the QxHSM, a fifth-generation, crypto-agile hardware security module supporting both classical and NIST-approved post-quantum algorithms for key generation, signatures, and encryption. The QxHSM is FIPS-validated and designed for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud deployments, providing tamper-resistant key storage and operations for PKI, code signing, and unified key management. QxEDGE extends this further as a hyper-converged platform that combines a quantum-safe HSM with general-purpose compute boards, enabling organisations to host security applications including PKI and key management alongside the HSM at the edge or in data centres. QxVault adds quantum-safe secrets management, while QxEmulator allows development teams to design and test PQC-enabled applications without access to physical hardware.
The QxHSM integrates with platforms including DigiCert and Keyfactor EJBCA, acting as a quantum-safe hardware root of trust for certificate lifecycle management and signing operations. As organisations begin to plan for the NIST post-quantum cryptography roadmap and address harvest-now-decrypt-later threats, the partnership combines Crypto4A's quantum-safe platforms with Unsung's specialist PKI consultancy expertise to help clients assess readiness, design appropriate migration strategies, and implement crypto-agile infrastructure.
