AI Has a Personalisation Problem

What receives less attention is whether AI actually understands context.

Today, many AI systems can answer questions, generate content, and recommend products. Yet consumers still spend significant time navigating life events such as moving home, settling into a new country, managing household bills, or making financial decisions.

The challenge is not a lack of information.

The challenge is understanding what matters to a specific person at a specific moment.

Two people searching for broadband may need completely different outcomes. One may be a student moving into shared accommodation. Another may be a family relocating with children. The recommendation should not simply be based on price. It should be based on context.

I believe the next phase of AI will be less about providing answers and more about understanding life situations.

The real opportunity is moving from generic recommendations to meaningful guidance.

At Wisemium, this is one of the problems we’re exploring. How can technology better understand where someone is in their journey and help them focus on the actions that matter most?

The future of AI may not be about replacing human decision making.

It may be about reducing complexity and helping people make better decisions with greater confidence.
