Job description
As a Communications Lead for the GOV.UK One Login, you’ll:
- be responsible for developing a strategic marketing comms and applicable testing plan (both within government and publically). The plan will need to deliver short and longer-term priorities and business objectives that focus on excellent user experience and increasing product uptake and awareness across government
- manage a large-scale budget and associated resources, working through internal teams and external agencies and collaborating with comms teams at departments onboarding to One Login, to deliver against the plan to the agreed timescales. As part of this you’ll lead work to scope and procure additional specialised comms resources which you will then deliver through, ensuring quality and adherence to contractual terms
- work with Cabinet Office comms and press office team to manage the media and be accountable and responsible for ensuring messaging is in line with the agreed frameworks
- deliver exceptional storytelling and communications that are outcome and solutions-focused, finding ways to amplify the One Login message by successfully communicating with our audiences in the most appropriate manner
- be a strong leader within GDS, working with the One Login Leadership team, and wider GDS colleagues, to influence and direct peers to provide vision and guidance to inspire and deliver a cohesive One Login communications strategy within the boundaries of overall GDS messaging and branding
Person specification
We’re interested in people who :
- have experience in developing and implementing integrated communication and marketing plans for large, diverse, multi-stakeholder and end user audiences in complex Political contexts
- have experience of operating strategically across multiple internal and external groups and a proven track record of influencing and inspiring a wider team while delivering on the tactics of the plans to ensure outputs are delivered on time and within budget
- have outstanding communication and influencing skills, with an ability to build effective relationships at senior levels (internal to GDS, cross government, and agencies) and operate successfully in a political or complex environment to deliver large, high-profile, public-facing campaigns
- are capable of leading a dynamic high-performing team and operating at pace, utilising internal team members and outsourced experts
- have experience in procuring and setting up relationships with provider organisations and managing delivery through them
- have the ability to find innovative Communications solutions to defined business goals whilst being results-focused and driven and an ability to inspire this in others

GDS offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home and also spends some time in their local office. You’ll agree to your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business needs.

Selection process details
The standard selection process for roles at GDS consists of:
- a simple application screening process - We only ask for a CV and cover letter of up to 750 words. Important tip - please ensure that your cover letter includes how you meet the skills and experience listed in the “person specification” section above
- A presentation/task - full details will be provided to those invited to interview
- a 60 minute video interview
Depending on how many applications we get, there might also be an extra stage before the video interview, for example a phone interview or a technical exercise.
**Successful candidate will go through SC clearance once in post**
