Job description
- own and run the portfolio planning process, incorporating supporting strategic planning, resource management, and portfolio prioritisation
- build and lead the engagement team that will liaise with all departments and service teams involved in the Top75 services
- create, deliver and continuously improve a portfolio management function based on agile, lean and PPM principles and methodologies
- work with the relevant teams to maintain the high-level delivery roadmap
- alignment of programme/product, business unit and organisational goals and commitments
- manage and resource the overall pipeline plan ensuring the plan meets the expectations of senior stakeholders whilst ensuring individual projects and budgets are not compromised
Person specification
It’s essential that you have:
- demonstrable experience of portfolio/business planning and monitoring execution and progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action
- programme delivery skills and experience. In particular: people and leadership; governance and reporting; and risk management.
- experience of balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity, focusing on outcomes and benefits, rather than tasks and measures
- strong communications, collaboration and relationship management skills
It’s desirable that you have:
- experience of working with agile/hybrid delivery methodologies
- experience of resource management
- managing contracts with delivery partners
- experience of process reengineering and a commitment to continuous improvement, applying lean and agile methodologies

Selection process details
The standard selection process for roles at GDS consists of:
- a simple application screening process - We only ask for a CV and cover letter of up to 750 words. Important tip - please ensure that your cover letter includes how you meet the skills and experience listed in the “person specification” section above
- a 60 minute video interview
Depending on how many applications we get, there might also be an extra stage before the video interview, for example a phone interview or a technical exercise.
