The space in this industry used to be around being edgy and saying ‘No Bullshit’ but everyone is on that bandwagon so even though we were one of the originals, we need to move on. No culture stuff or saying we are a dynamic company here. We are not about pretending we go to Junkyard Golf every week. We don’t. We are not going to oversell our company – just have a look at the website and ask questions. We will answer anything. We’re on the lookout for a Head of Marketing eager to join our growing team. A shit-hot one. Someone who will push our brand to the limit but still generate leads. Someone who is approachable and will be able to juggle multiple projects and manage the internal teams to deliver. We need someone who wants to make Dark Horse famous!

Is this you?

The successful candidate will lead our internal Marketing team, reporting directly to the MD and sit on the Senior Management Team. They will be responsible for the generation of leads through multiple channels and always on the lookout for new channels to try. We need someone who can live and breathe the values of our company and is ultimately, driven to make an impact. Someone who can share these through our messaging and make sure our clients understand the value we can bring. This is about being a vital central cog in the business. Learning from incredible colleagues and being part of the journey to create the best search marketing agency in the country.

You‘ll work alongside the Head of Sales to deliver leads to the team through things like; eblasts, DMs, events, PPC, SEO and Social Media. You’ll also ensure the team have collateral and brand materials to support them too. The website is your baby. You will keep that updated and give it the tlc it needs to keep ahead of the competition. You’ll be comfortable with the Dark Horse tone of voice. You don’t shy away from weird and wonderful ideas. You can take a concept and put it into a plan. Nothing deters you. If you find a problem, you solve it so the idea can be delivered. This is not a role for the meek. This is a role to push creativity to the limits whilst delivering a message that resonates with the target audience. Everything you do supports our brand and tone of voice. We don’t dilute. We don’t play safe.

  • Able to think like potential clients, competitors, current clients and potential employees - ensuring the messaging is always on point
  • The confidence to manage internal teams, acting as the client (for PPC/SEO/Paid Social)
  • Commercially aware and always looking for possible revenue generators
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Google and Facebook advertising
  • Desire to make a difference – someone who is willing to put themselves out there and engage with others to improve the system
  • Team player – someone who places the success of the team above their own success. We don’t mean ‘able to work individually or as part of a team’ on your CV. If it says that in your opening paragraph, then you have not read the above or looked at who we are


  • Drive the long-term strategy as part of the Senior Management Team
  • Build and deliver a pipeline of leads for the Sales team
  • Make Dark Horse famous – you’ll own and share our brand
  • Develop the Marketing team and manage them on a day-to-day basis
  • Outline the Dark Horse difference with every touch point
  • Develop the website and keep pushing the branding to the next level
  • Understand the Dark Horse tone of voice and deliver the messaging
  • consistently across all channels
  • Share ideas and identify new channels for lead generation
  • Be process-driven to build strong foundations that Dark Horse can scale from
  • Be commercially-driven and look to develop new revenue streams
  • Develop the Dark Horse culture supporting recruitment and staff retention
