Summary

Do you want to work across the product delivery lifecycle to bring together business needs with technical capabilities, with the goal of defining solutions that deliver value?

If so, come join us as an Associate Business Analyst.

You will be a key part of delivering change within DWP Digital working in a team within one of our functional areas. We currently have several roles within Corporate Services, Digital Shared Channels and Comms and Collaboration.

As an Associate Business Analyst (BA) you will work towards developing a good understanding of the tools and techniques used by BAs and to be able to contribute to core BA deliverables.

You will be given appropriate responsibility and under the guidance of other BAs will assist in delivering change for the department, by defining requirements and recommending solutions.

You will continue to grow your capabilities through working with more experienced BAs and continually growing your skills and knowledge through the support of the wider community of practice.

Job description

As an Associate BA working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing: 

  • Working with BAs to develop your understanding of Agile principles, methods and tools in support of your development.
  • Developing stakeholder relationships and working to resolve risks and issues in an appropriate manner.
  • Communicating effectively across both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Understanding business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the product or service.
  • Producing AS-IS models of existing business processes and playing them back to stakeholders for validation.
  • Taking responsibility for improving your own knowledge of Business Analysis and Agile principles, methods and tools and seeking mentoring and shadowing opportunities within the BA community.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £34,173 (Band min) to £34,971 (Band max).

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Security

Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Experience and Technical skills.

Stage 1: Application

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria above.

Stage 2: Interview

If you’re successful at sift stage, you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. You will be assessed against the experiences listed in the essential criteria and the following Technical Skills:

  • Relationship Management

    In Addition, you will be asked to do a short (15 mins) exercise on a specific topic. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.

Interviews will take place from mid-October 2022.
