UrbanChain is proud to announce that Founder and CEO Dr. Somayeh Taheri has been named one of 11 national finalists in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2025 UK programme — a celebration of visionary entrepreneurs reshaping industries and driving sustainable economic growth.
Selected from 84 businesses across five UK regions, this year’s finalists represent the very best of entrepreneurial leadership — recognised for their innovation, resilience and contribution to UK growth and employment.
Dr Taheri’s recognition reflects her pioneering work in building UrbanChain’s clean energy operating system, which breaks the monopoly of the wholesale market by developing a system of local/private energy markets.
Under her leadership UrbanChain has proven its model works at scale, with the company continuing its hyper growth trajectory — doubling in size again this October and expanding across critical UK infrastructure sectors, from AI-ready data centres to electric mobility networks.
“This recognition is such an important step for us as UrbanChainers,” said Dr Somayeh Taheri, Founder & CEO of UrbanChain.
“As we embark on our international journey, this nomination leads towards the worldwide recognition of what we do and our mission. I am looking forward to sharing our story and grabbing the international-scale opportunities — proving our operating system can truly change the way the world is powered.”
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ UK finalists were selected by independent judging panels representing London, the South, Midlands, North and Scotland.
Collectively, these regional finalists generate more than £3.6 billion in annual revenue and employ over 20,000 people across technology, consumer, healthcare and financial services sectors.
The UK winners will be announced at a celebration dinner on November 20, with one overall winner going on to represent the UK at EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2026 in Monaco.
UrbanChain extends congratulations to all 2025 finalists and thanks EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ UK and headline sponsor Julius Baer International for recognising the innovation and leadership shaping the UK’s entrepreneurial landscape.
