MD Culture Club: Intelligence22

For our next edition of MD Culture Club we're joined by rapidly growing Manchester based technology company Intelligence22. We spoke to three members of their team in order to build a complete picture of their company culture and what it’s like to work there.

The talent lead...
Nathan Burke, Product Director

Can you tell us a little bit about the company, before describing the culture at the organisation?

Intelligence22 is new and rapidly growing technology company based in Manchester. Founded in 2020, we became a new company under The Freethinking Group, which also owns Republic of Media Ltd and Rommatic Ltd.

Since then, we’ve been investing in great people to help us in our goal to provide a cloud-first data visualisation platform to allow organisations to see all their business data, and cross-collaborate with external and internal users, all inside one platform. Taking out the pain of manual reporting from every department by offering a managed service data visualisation tool.

At Intelligence22 we share the same passion to provide a first in class platform for our users. This requires everyone to contribute by working together in an open and welcoming environment. We are a very friendly and approachable group, and we are only at the beginning of our journey together.

How does the company go above and beyond to attract and retain tech talent?

Our approach to attracting and retaining talent is closing aligned with our culture and values. We want people to have a platform to grow within Intelligence22 and provide all staff with a clear and structured learning and development program from day one. The learning and development program is something that we are very proud of, as we recognise that investing in people has a massive impact on wellbeing, we want all people to feel supported by Intelligence22 from a development process and health and well-being perspective.

To support this, we also provide.

  • Flexible Working Policy (Includes Fully Remote Option)
  • Life & Private Medical Insurance
  • Income Protection Insurance
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Traveling to work scheme

We want our staff to feel valued and supported by Intelligence22 and we want to be a company that can allow people to express themselves push the boundaries of their knowledge and help us shape the company and platform for many years to come.

What does the future look like for the company and its employees?

A very positive one, after the last 18 months of being fully virtual across the company, it’s going to be an exciting time to meet everyone and have more regular face-to-face team catchups and socials. The company has been growing rapidly over the last two years and we continue to progress in a positive direction. We’ve successfully rolled out our platform over that few months to our core clients. We are only just getting started with our platform and we know that to keep the momentum our people are at the very core of that, we will continue to review and improve across all aspects of our recruitment and retention of people to provide a welcoming and agile working environment. We are very much looking forward to the next few years and beyond.

The new starter...
Ludwik Jasiurski, Full Stack Developer

Can you describe your role at the company?

My role involves developing new software, revisiting existing solutions and improving code quality across the platform. I do also get involved in infrastructure decisions on how we approach storing and processing data. On top of that there are common tasks of planning, designing, helping others to achieve their goals and a little bit of a maintenance.

What was it about the organisation that attracted you to the role?

It was definitely the innovative product they were building and opportunity to grow within a company. I’m the kind of a person that is always on the lookout for new challenges. I’ve recognised quickly that there will be plenty of potential to learn more about cloud computing, python or even AI. Ok I wasn’t so sure about python yet already had a chance to work with it. That’s what makes it fun and exciting seeing that no two days are the same.

Can you describe the onboarding process you’ve experienced?

I feel like it was extremely transparent and honest. I’ve been explained in much detail what company does, how I’ll be able to bring my skills to the table and what’s the current state of the product and internal processes are. The company has made a lot of effort to make onboarding relaxed but also very informative process that helped me to make a final decision.

The long term employee...
Ellie Sandford, Data Analyst

Can you describe your role at the company?

My role as Data Analyst at Intelligence22 is to provide high quality, bespoke dashboards for clients. These dashboards provide clients with a clear and deep insight into their data to aid them with their business decisions. My role is quite versatile as I also do some frontend development which has advanced my learning and ability to provide clients with a product that is so unique and dynamic to their needs.

You’ve been at the company for a number of years, can you tell me what has kept you at the company for so long?

As well as the company being very supportive in your learning and development in avenues that you want to gain knowledge from, the team really are the best part of the company. Your efforts are truly appreciated and rewarded, and the team are very supportive and encouraging day in, day out. It has been great to see how the company has grown and adapted throughout the years.

What would you say to a person considering joining the company?

Do it. You will gain a whole lot of experience from Intelligence22, and they really do support and encourage your development personally and professionally to aid your next steps in your career.
