This October, Manchester Digital and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), will be running Switch to Digital Week, a new week-long event aimed at people interested in exploring a career in the digital and tech sector.
Coinciding with the end of the furlough scheme, the event will bring together individuals and businesses from across the sector to share information and actionable advice about the industry for those considering switching careers.
From 5th - 9th October we’ll be running daily events which will be filled with practical advice on the digital and tech sector. We’ll be looking in detail at the different job roles, the skills required, how and where to find the right training opportunities, and how to take the next steps to a new career.
Each day will feature different events with speakers from some of the leading tech firms such as Co-op Digital, Code Nation, Slalom, Microsoft and Zuhlke, along with a speed mentoring event at the end of the week, giving attendees the opportunity to come face to face and ask advice from people of all levels already working within the industry.
This event is suitable for people of all ages and from backgrounds who are interested in working in the digital and tech sector. It’s free to attend, you can register for the event below
Would you like to mentor someone?
As part of this week we'll be running a speed mentoring hour for those attending the event to be matched with someone already working in the Digital and Tech sector, to talk face to face and ask any questions they may have.
The event will take place on Friday 9th October between 1:30pm and 2:30pm, and we're looking for people of all levels right across the sector to take part, and give your hints and tips on moving into a Digital or Tech role. It is speed mentoring though, so you'll only have around 6 minutes with each person, enough time for them to ask a burning question but to also match and meet with as many mentors as possible.
If you'd be interested in taking part as a mentor please register your interest here
