NextGen 10 is the showcase event for next generation broadband activity in the UK, the only one of its kind and now in its third year. NextGen 10 is the platform for public and private sector organisations, communities and individuals to network, learn and discuss best practice. The two-day conference, taking place at our ICC in Birmingham on 22 and 23 November 2010 has the support of Digital Birmingham, Birmingham City Council and other partners.

 

NextGen 10 covers the whole subject of high-speed broadband from technical, funding and economics to management, training and inclusion. Based on high level keynotes, participative workshops, panels and an active exhibitor area, delegates from public, private, voluntary and community sectors come to NextGen 10 to engage actively and constructively on moving the NGA agenda forward.   

 

Keynotes will be delivered by: Ed Vaizey MP, Minister for Broadband, DCMS & BIS who will lay out the Government’s vision and latest plans for superfast broadband. Richard Benyon MP - Minister for the Natural Environment, DEFRA - on the big issues for the Rural Economy. Bill Murphy - Managing Director NGA BT Group presenting BT’s role nationally in the roll out of high speed broadband and Peter Ludin - Vice President EMEA Dutch company Draka Telecom Solutions, the Conference Platinum Sponsors, on Delivering Innovation the Continental way.

 

Further keynote presentations will include: Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive, RSA on “Involving Communities”; Kip Meek, Chairman of Youview  on “Next Generation TV”;  Simon Towler, Head of Broadband Policy & Programmes, BIS on “Defining the Best: National Broadband Policy”; and Dr Robert Sullivan, Deputy Director Broadband Delivery on the four UK National Broadband Pilots (announced on 20th October). 

 

Panel sessions include: Global Approaches to Next Generation Broadband - What Works & Where; Big Technology issues in the Big Society; changing the economics of Superfast Broadband.

 

Workshops include: The Critical Role of Local Authorities in enabling superfast Broadband; Community Action & Local Demand; Mobile and Wireless NGA; NGA Network Roll-Out; Creating a Level Playing Field - Regulation and State Aid; Broadband in the Rural Economy; Digital Inclusion Fibre to the Community; Funding Models for Private, Public and Community Schemes.

 

Exhibitors include vendors with the latest technical, management and training solutions for implementing high speed broadband technologies.
