As Chief Enterprise Architect, you’ll lead the organisation‑wide architecture capability, acting as the bridge between business strategy, policy, and digital delivery to ensure DVSA delivers high‑quality, cost‑effective services for the public.
This role provides clear ownership of enterprise‑wide architecture, shaping operating models, guiding major transformation and ensuring digital and business change move forward together.
You’ll set direction, provide assurance, and ensure architecture demonstrates real business value and better customer outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
As Chief Enterprise Architect, you will:
- Provide strategic and technical leadership across DVSA’s digital and business architecture
- Lead the development, governance and communication of the enterprise architecture strategy, roadmap and standards
- Shape target architectures that support DVSA’s long‑term business goals
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders, policy teams, delivery teams and digital professionals across the change lifecycle
- Ensure effective governance, assurance, audit and compliance mechanisms are in place
- Advise senior decision‑making forums with clear, timely architectural insight
- Translate future business and user needs into clear capability‑based designs
- Enable resilient, adaptable operating models that respond to policy, technology and service change
You’ll lead and shape a growing Enterprise Architecture team, including Lead Enterprise, Technical and Solution Architects.
Who this role is for

- A strong track record of hands‑on enterprise architecture leadership in complex, multi‑service organisations
- Experience operating across business, digital, policy and delivery environments
- Excellent relationship‑building, influencing and negotiation skills
- Confidence providing professional and technical leadership across internal teams and suppliers
- Experience working within matrix structures and complex commercial environments
