HSE is Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety. The work we do protects people across the UK, from oil platforms in the North Sea to mines, quarries and industrial sites nationwide.
Technology underpins everything HSE does. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help ensure the hosting platforms that support inspectors, analysts and staff remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
What you’ll be working on
You’ll join the Hosting Team within HSE’s Technology Division, supporting:
- Data centres and hosting platforms
- Servers, storage arrays, backup systems and load balancers
- Hybrid and cloud‑enabled services that support over 3,000 colleagues
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Hosting), you’ll:
- Support and maintain hosting infrastructure to meet SLAs and OLAs
- Monitor platforms, investigate incidents and resolve problems
- Deliver infrastructure upgrades and implement new functionality
- Maintain accurate configuration and asset information
- Support event, incident, problem, capacity and change management
- Ensure hosting platforms remain secure and resilient
- Engage with users to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to improve services
- Support or carry out line management of Hosting Team members (where required)

Skills & experience
You’ll need experience in:
- Delivering hosting services with strong customer focus
- Managing an industry‑recognised virtualisation hypervisor
- Managing physical compute and storage platforms
- Managing certificates for host and identity services
- Supporting secure, resilient infrastructure environments
