Lead Dynamics Developer



The IPO is a modern organisation which depends on its IT services to operate and innovate effectively. In order to provide up to date services to our customers both nationally and internationally systems need to be developed, improved and maintained. You will have the opportunity to work on the latest cutting edge cloud technologies, use modern delivery processes and work on innovative projects some including the use of AI and ML. Working alongside experts in their fields you will have the opportunity to make valuable contributions without compromising on quality.


You will need the appetite to learn new technologies and methodologies for delivering high quality IT services. In this role you will work within a multi-disciplined team using several technologies to build enterprise grade services as well as mentoring and coaching team members. You will be expected to be proactive and take accountability for the teams assigned deliverables. The role will also require the investigation, diagnosis and fix of any system issues. A Lead Developer is expected to contribute to the technical strategy.



Working Style


This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least 20% of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our Newport Office.

The requirement for attendance at an office location can vary by role so we would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.


Job description


Main duties consist of but are not limited to:


  • Be responsible for the team’s design, coding, testing and documentation of large, complex or mission critical applications in a cloud first environment using Dynamics and Power Apps in MS Azure
  • Work alongside the Head of Development and Digital Engineering to support staff, provide guidance and facilitate issue resolution on a day-to-day basis
  • Day-to-day line management activities such as 1-2-1s and development of IDPs
  • Support in the recruitment of permanent and contract technical specialists for the delivery teams
  • Configuration and customisation of Dataverse / Dynamics entities and forms
  • Development of PowerApps integrations with other Azure components such as Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus and Azure Functions
  • Supporting upgrades and maintenance of the PowerApps platform
  • Identify and manage problems, incidents, risks and issues
  • Build automated tests to support our continuous deployment environments
  • Implement APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability
  • Understanding yourself to be a leader (and the impact of your behaviour on others in a project team focused on results)
  • Work alongside the Head of Digital Engineering to support staff, provide guidance and facilitate issue resolution on a day to day basis

Person specification


Essential Criteria


Essential Experience

  • Has led in delivering technical solutions as part of large projects
  • Experienced with modern delivery models such as Scrum and other Agile methodologies
  • Advocate of DevOps principles
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Azure Cloud first team
  • Experience with Azure DevOps

Essential Technical

  • Experience of MS Dynamics CRM and/or PowerApps platform
  • Proficiency in one or more of these languages: C#, JavaScript or Typescript
  • Has a deep understanding of architectural principals such as SOA and Micro-Services
  • Experience writing Unit Testing
