There’s never been a better time to join

The experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic have underlined the critical role that DWP plays, and its work will be at the heart of the UK’s economic recovery. DWP Digital is committed to the modernisation and digitisation of services, and putting the user’s needs forefront of everything. Digital-first services shaped around people’s life events are now more important than ever to its customers.

This has led to an increased requirement for specialist skills. And DWP Digital are looking to recruit a high number of digital specialists. They are looking for individuals who enjoy what they do, have a passion for technology and a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes in a very complex environment.

The opportunities for new recruits

Tech specialists joining DWP Digital will have the opportunity to use data and a variety of technology to drive innovation and change to make a real impact on society at this difficult time. They’ll also have the chance to work with other

government departments and organisations, like the NHS to share data, products and services.

Mimi Enefiok, Talent Acquisition Manager, said:

“The teams and roles have different things going for them and there is something for everyone. We're looking for people with cognitive diversity, people who have different styles of problem-solving and can offer unique perspectives because they think differently, to help us transform our services to meet the needs of everyone in society.”

About the event

On Thursday 30 September 6pm to 8pm DWP Digital colleagues will host their first Virtual Recruitment Evening in the Digital Leaders #DigiLounge platform. Register for the event here.

This will be an opportunity for attendees to meet and chat with the teams behind some of DWPs essential user-facing services, products and platforms. This includes the Technology Services team, who design, deliver and operate the infrastructure which underpins DWP’s policy, providing support and security to DWP’s systems, services and users.

Hiring managers across a range of disciplines and recruitment specialists will be on hand to talk to about digital opportunities across engineering, architecture, delivery, product design and more. Five interactive sessions will be available, including:

  • IT Operations: showing how they drive the performance of DWP’s live services and enhance the experience of users.
  • Digital Workplace: introducing new features and exploiting the capability of the digital workplace in DWP for all users.
  • Hybrid Cloud Services: managing the take up and usage of public cloud services.
  • Cyber Security: improving the security of DWP systems and data to protect from an ever-evolving cyber threat.
  • Service Transformation: enabling and supporting the delivery of product and transformation priorities.

They will also be showcasing two of their current projects to provide an in-depth ‘behind the scenes’ look into their design and development processes.

Paul Booth, Head of Hybrid Cloud Services, who will be at the event, said:

“We need to recruit Dev Ops/Site Reliability Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers and Technical Architects.

In Hybrid Cloud Services we set and ensure adherence to the departments Hosting Strategy, working collaboratively to drive Cloud adoption and to remove Technical Debt. Dev Ops/SRE’s will work with the application, infrastructure and database developers to increase reliability and reduce down time. We also need to increase our Infrastructure Engineering teams, which are pivotal to ensure support and maintenance of solutions and services and to drive improvements in both system health and reliability. And, we’re recruiting more Technical Architects to work closely with the Engineering teams to shape the strategy and set the direction for adoption of AWS solutions.

Come to the event and chat to me or one of my colleagues to find out more.”
