Lancashire-based background screening firm Personnel Checks has appointed Hendrix Rose PR to support its next phase of growth, as tighter regulation and changing hiring practices increase demand for pre-employment screening.
Part of PC Group, the Blackburn-headquartered business has engaged the Manchester PR agency to raise its profile among SMEs and larger employers, while strengthening its position in conversations around safer hiring, compliance and workforce risk.
Serving more than 30,000 organisations, Personnel Checks is now looking to accelerate growth beyond its referral base and expand into larger, more complex client accounts.
The appointment comes as UK employers face growing pressure to strengthen hiring processes. Increased regulatory scrutiny, ongoing labour shortages and the rise of flexible and self-employed working models are placing greater emphasis on robust pre-employment checks. Recent legislative changes allowing self-employed workers to access Enhanced DBS checks for the first time have further expanded demand for screening services.
Hendrix Rose PR will deliver a PR strategy focused on raising national visibility, building authority in compliance-led hiring and supporting growth through media relations, thought leadership and campaign activity.
Led by CEO Jack Mellor, Personnel Checks has achieved more than 300% growth over the past five years following a family management buyout in 2017. It recently reported a record financial year, with gross profit approaching £2.5m.
The 34-strong company remains fully self-funded and has made substantial investments in technology, including the development of its own proprietary platform to replace third-party systems and enable faster innovation and greater operational control.
Earlier this year, Personnel Checks also completed its first acquisition with the purchase of Manchester-based Know Your Candidate, with further deals planned as part of its growth strategy.
Hendrix Rose PR will be responsible for amplifying these pivotal moments, supporting acquisition activity, as well as strengthening the industry voice of CEO Jack Mellor.
Gemma Eccleston, managing director of Hendrix Rose PR, said: “We’re pleased to be partnering with Personnel Checks at such an important stage in its growth journey. The business has an incredibly strong story to tell, from its impressive commercial performance to its commitment to innovation and responsible business practices. We’re looking forward to helping elevate its profile and positioning the team as leading voices in safer, more compliant hiring.”
Jack Mellor, CEO of Personnel Checks, said: “We’ve built strong momentum as a business, from developing our own technology to completing our first acquisition and achieving record growth. Now is the right time to invest in raising our profile nationally and ensuring our story is heard by the right audiences. Hendrix Rose PR brings the strategic expertise and energy we need to support that ambition, and we’re excited to work together as we enter the next phase of our journey.”
The partnership will deliver an coordinated programme of campaigns, media relations, corporate profiling and sector-led storytelling aimed at driving brand awareness, digital performance and growth.
