You will be part of  CDDO and the Data Strategy and Standards (DS&S) Directorate at an exciting time as we build a new data governance and policy function and establish a Data Architecture Design Authority to sit alongside the established Data Standards Authority.

Our team has some big ambitions. We want to improve services for end users and improve how new policies are developed through the effective use and reuse of data. A key part of that will be to establish data governance that is appropriate for system-wide and cross-government adoption, underpinned by agreed principles, policies and standards. We need great people to make that happen.

One of areas of focus is supporting our programme delivery with effective communications and engagement with our key stakeholder departments like DCMS and ONS. For this we need a creative individual who can think on their feet, solve problems and build collaborative relationships across the organisation and across Whitehall.

As a Data Engagement Lead you’ll work directly with the Head of Data Portfolio, working across all areas of the team:

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts across DS&S to identify engagement needs across the portfolio
  • Lead on Engagement with other government departments for Data Policy development
  • Create an Engagement plan, including identifying strategic relationships to develop to deliver on CDDO’s plans for government data and potential partner projects.
  • Identify opportunities to allow us to test and develop policy and guidelines
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively on a range of projects where your expertise and skills are needed and support a culture of agile working across your team

Person Specification

This role requires:

  • An understanding of His Majesty's Government’s data agenda and how this fits into the broader digital strategy
  • Experience of communicating messages about data credibly to both expert and non-technical audiences
  • Significant experience of building and maintaining effective relationships
  • Experience of planning and delivering stakeholder engagement plans for a complex portfolio
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality briefings, presentations and narratives
  • Ability to leverage a variety of communications channels to achieve objectives in good time, adapting if needed when circumstances change
