What is a firewall?
A firewall is a network security device that monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic and decides whether to allow or block specific traffic based on a defined set of security rules/policies.
They act as a barrier between secured internal networks and untrusted outside networks, such as the internet.
Firewalls are available in different formats such as hardware, software or both.
Why does my business need this?
By not having sufficient firewall protection you’re leaving a door open for attacks on your company's network and data which can potentially have catastrophic results. The types of information that can be accessed through attacks can range from employee’s personal information to corporate credit card details, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
If your business has multiple employees, everyone that uses your network can be used as a gateway into your system, so if these gateways aren’t properly secured your chances of attacks are massively increased.
What about small businesses?
