In our MentorHER Spotlight series, we're catching up with previous mentors and mentees to hear about their experiences, the connections they've made and the difference mentoring has made to their professional journeys. This time, we're hearing from Bea Capellan.
As we prepare for MentorHER Cohort 4, delivered through Manchester Digital's DigitalHER programme in partnership with Autotrader, applications are now open for women at the beginning of their digital and technology careers, alongside experienced women who would like to support the next generation of talent.
Applications close Sunday 8 November. Find out more and apply for MentorHER Cohort 4.
Name: Bea Capellan

Mentee's position: Project Coordinator
What made you want to get involved in MentorHER?
I wanted to get involved in MentorHER because I had been fortunate enough to have some great mentors myself throughout my career. I know how valuable that support can be, so I was keen to give something back and offer that same guidance to someone else.
What was the most valuable or memorable part of your experience?
The most rewarding part of the experience was seeing my mentee grow and progress in her career, achieving several promotions along the way. It was particularly lovely to see her confidence increase and to watch her find her voice in an industry that was once completely new to her.
What impact has the programme had on you, personally or professionally?
Being part of MentorHER has helped me develop my own mentoring and leadership skills, which has been really valuable professionally. On a personal level, I've also made a wonderful new pal along the way!
What would you say to someone considering applying as a mentor or mentee?
I'd definitely encourage them to go for it! Mentoring is an incredibly rewarding experience, and there's always something new to learn, both about yourself and from each other.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
My mentee and I continued together many months after the initial MentorHER programme ended as we were very happy to work together and have gone through many milestones, personal and professional. We are taking a pause now as I've started my maternity leave but very very happy I signed up to this programme!
