Startup Stories: How to fund your venture from Startup to Scaleup

This event has now ended.

How to fund your venture from Startup to Scaleup

While starting a company is challenging, scaling it is a real feat. Half of all startups fail to survive beyond five years, many plummet into the ‘valley of death’ just after the initial build and launch phase. They do not have the funding to fully test the market, and with little or no revenues, fade away.

However, startups that survive and thrive attract sufficient equity to move along their growth journey. With funding in their armoury, they scale to improve their product and build their team.

Navigating the funding and investment world can be a daunting task. At this breakfast event, we’ll hear from startup founders on their challenges of seeking funding to launch, build and scale up their business, and from investors, insights into the options available for startup and high growth ventures looking to access funds, and how to secure a share of the wallet.

Expect practical advice, insights, and some heart-breaking and heart-warming personal stories from business founders who have been through the process successfully, alongside experienced investment practitioners.

With a panel hosted by Ian Brookes, co-founder of tsf.tech, the breakfast briefing will provide two sessions: firstly, we’ll hear some anecdotes from the panel on their own experiences and lessons learned; secondly, we’ll facilitate a Q&A session with the audience to bring the discussions a bit further closer to home.

The panel for this event will be:

• Michael Commons – CEO & Founder, Nivo
• Stuart Logan - CEO & Founder, Twine
• Peter Lusty – CEO, Manchester Tech Trust
• Damian McGann – Corporate Development, Praetura Group
• James Merryweather – Investment Manager, KM Capital

The event will be held on Friday 8 November, 8.30am to 10.00am at Manchester Technology Centre, Oxford Road.
