Job summary

The Senior Delivery Manager role is part of the Content Management Systems Operations team within Cabinet Office Digital. The role holder will be accountable for the effective delivery of a range of live products through BAU and continuous improvement including Civil Service Careers and the Cabinet Office Intranet.

Through this role you will have the opportunity to help shape some of the highest priority digital services and projects, dealing with a wide range of complex business and technical issues.

Day to day you’ll work closely with the Business Analysts and Content Designers. You’ll also work closely with different delivery teams and technical suppliers.

You’ll be working within a growing and motivated Agile delivery team to:

• Provide support for the end-to-end delivery of a variety of sites and services
• Undertake recruitment to grow a full internal multi-faceted delivery team
• Support both stakeholder management and supplier management
• Champion user centred design and accessibility and ensure that the products and services meet user needs.
• Learn from and iterate approaches frequently, to ensure the team can and do deliver in the most effective and efficient way possible
• Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning processes and optimise the delivery flow of the team
• Challenge the team to identify assumptions and risks, and proactively plan to address these throughout delivery
• Lead on business cases and ensure they progress smoothly through review and approval processes
• Manage service budgets
• Support the service owner and Head of Content Management Systems.

We are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager, with a passion for live-service and continuous improvement. Our ideal candidate has a creative flair and is excellent with team and people management.

• Commercial management. You can act as the point of contact for contracted suppliers. You understand appropriate internal contacts and processes within a government department. You know how and when third parties should be brought into digital, data and technology (DDaT) projects.
• Communication skills. You can listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them. You can manage stakeholders’ expectations and be flexible. You are capable of proactive and reactive communication. You can facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
• Financial management. You know how to balance cost versus value. You can consider the impact of user needs. You can report on financial delivery. You can monitor cost and budget; you know how and when to escalate issues.

Cabinet Office policy is that a minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. For some roles, due to their nature and the business need, this may be up to 100%.
