Manchester Digital celebrates double award win at TalkTalk Women in Tech awards

Last night’s North West Women in Tech awards from TalkTalk saw Manchester Digital pick up two awards. Managing director Katie Gallagher was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for her work in developing and supporting the tech sector in the North West, and specifically the initiatives she has spearheaded that encourage women to build a career in tech.

On top of that, the Manchester Digital team was also named as Team of the Year for their collective work in championing women in tech, and running programmes and initiatives to support women in the tech industry.

Helen McHugh, Head of North West Engagement at TalkTalk, said: “Many congratulations to Manchester Digital for their fantastic double success at this year’s TalkTalk North West Women in Tech Awards. The judges praised their ambition to put growth for good at the heart of their work.

“Manchester Digital are vital players in Greater Manchester’s tech ecosystem and it was great to read Katie’s Outstanding Achievement nomination, which was recognition for her work in championing and encouraging women in the technology sector throughout her career.”

Katie said: “I am honoured to have been given this award and it’s lovely to be recognised. I’m so happy for our Manchester Digital team to be named as the Team of the Year for their work in delivering industry-leading programmes, events and initiatives to the sector. They are an incredibly hard-working and dedicated team so this is well-deserved recognition.”

The Manchester Digital team works very closely with tech business leaders, education establishments and local government in the North West to support and champion the tech industry. Diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything they do, across events, initiatives and programmes, which include Digital Her and the Manchester Digital Academy.

Katie has championed women in technology throughout her whole career. Her long-term plan is to see a significant shift in the number of women joining the tech industry and also to see them staying within the tech industry. This is a huge job, and by implementing innovative trailblazing initiatives with a real impact, Katie has been able to genuinely make a difference and help numerous women find a rewarding career in the tech industry.

TalkTalk’s awards celebrate the outstanding women doing important work across all levels of the region’s diverse technology industry. By celebrating the many successes of women in tech across the region, TalkTalk aims to support and deliver a roadmap to a more inclusive sector. The awards took place at First Street Bar and Kitchen with drinks and canapes.
