We’re looking for an exceptional Business Analyst to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Business Analyst, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

As a Business Analyst in our dynamic organisation, you'll be at the heart of Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) transformation, within our Enterprise Design function. Join our team and become a vital catalyst for change, providing business analysis services that drive evidence-based decision-making and propel successful projects, programmes, and initiatives forward.

Your role will be diverse and impactful, spanning the realms of technology, information, people, process, and environmental data. Collaborating closely with our Technology & Data teams, you'll leverage your expertise to deliver a comprehensive suite of business analysis services. Versatility will be your forte as you adeptly adapt to meet the evolving needs of our organisation.

Your key duties

  • Project and Program Business Analysis Support 
  • Facilitation and Communication 
  • Requirements Elicitation and Documentation 
  • Supporting the maturation of the broader business analysis service  
  • Working under your own direction with stakeholders across the business to improve our business processes and support functional areas to drive a culture of continuous improvement 

Person specification

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

1. Proven Experience as a Business Analyst
- You can demonstrate that you have worked in the successful delivery of technology solutions, projects and programmes using a broad range of recognised business analysis techniques and methodologies.
- You can investigate problems and assess options including the analysis of business data to provide evidence-based insights to allow the business to make informed decisions.
- Requirements definition and management. You have experience in eliciting requirements and understand the concepts of functional and non-functional using recognised techniques e.g. user stories.
- You are able to use your skills and experience to see the bigger picture to identify the dependencies that can impact on successful delivery of your projects


2. Facilitation Skills
- You have experience of and can demonstrate, that you have led on the design, delivery and facilitation of workshops.
- You can realise the outcomes expected for the business, tailoring your approach to suit multiple audiences at all levels of the organisation (We’re Better Together)
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, identify and manage conflicts constructively, and encourage participation from all stakeholders.
- Clearly document key takeaways, action items, and decisions from sessions and effectively communicate follow-up plans.

 
3. Excellent Communication Skills
- You are able to analyse often complex problems to extract valuable insights and present them back to the business in a non-technical way, including visualisations, that enable the business to make well informed evidence-based decisions.
- You have excellent written skills and can also present in front of an audience, often at a senior level in the organisation. (We Live and Breathe it)


4. Stakeholder Management
- You understand your stakeholders and are able to manage those networks to ensure that you build effective relationships and foster collaborative working environments (We’re Better Together)
- You know how to identify important stakeholders, tailor communication to their needs, and work with teams to build relationships while also meeting user needs.
- You have the ability to take opposing views and work with stakeholders to reach a consensus


5. Process Improvement
- You can identify opportunities to improve business processes and have practical experience of increasing efficiency and effectiveness using recognised methods and techniques (We Keep Evolving)
- Proven experience in capturing business processes using recognised modelling techniques
- Understand the effect of potential changes and how business processes, systems, structures, data and roles and responsibilities interact with one another
- Lead the analysis, identification, design, prioritisation and implementation of process and business changes to improve business operations and services

As our Business Analyst, your total reward package will be up to £46,794 annually, which includes:

£33,794 base pay
An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
