This is an exciting opportunity to join our Companies House Digital and Technology Directorate. We are looking for a Senior Agile Delivery Manager to help scrum teams develop and deliver quality digital services for our millions of users. You’ll have the opportunity to be at the forefront of digital transformation in government and help shape our services to meet the ever-changing demands of the UK’s business landscape.

This is a rewarding role within the Agile Delivery Profession and provides an opportunity to contribute to the success of existing and future services provided by Companies House.

Job description

A Senior Agile Delivery Manager is accountable for the effective delivery of complex, high risk products and services. The role is similar to a Delivery Manager role, but Senior Delivery Managers have more experience across a range of products and services, throughout the entire product life cycle, and have greater responsibility and accountability as the main point of escalation.

At this role level, you will:

  • Have strong communication skills and engage senior stakeholders to guide them through the product life cycle.
  • Coach and mentor delivery managers to achieve both personal and strategic aims.
  • Have a strategic overview of team delivery capabilities and deliverables.

Person specification

We are looking for the following experience, which will be assessed at sift and at interview. Please refer to the essential, desirable and experience headings when writing your personal statement. 

You'll adopt a servant leader approach in order to foster professional growth within the team using transparency, inspection and adaption as pillars of agile delivery.

We’re looking for someone who can do the hands-on delivery of products and end to end services. You will see them through from initiation to live.  

Essential  

  • Extensive and demonstrable experience of leading high performing software delivery teams as an Agile Delivery Manager, Scrum Master or equivalent role.
  • A strong advocate for delivering minimum valuable products frequently and regularly.
  • Passionate about working openly and collaboratively.
  • Able to experiment using inspect and adapt methods.
  • A clear and effective communicator.
  • Proven line management experience, with a focus on coaching people to learn and grow over telling them what to do.  

Desirable    

  • Ideally you will also have a recognised professional accreditation/qualification such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM)/ Profession Scum Master (PSM I).

You will be aligned to our Cardiff Office, where we are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work. Our approach to hybrid working provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on business need, your role and your day-to-day work activities and will be discussed at offer stage. This is a hybrid role where you will typically come into the office one day per week, depending on business needs.

Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed. 

BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. 

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed.
