Enterprise Configuration Management Engineer

The Enterprise Configuration Management Engineer is an integral part of Latham’s Technology team. This role will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining all processes, platforms, and integrations related to configuration management, as a member of the Configuration Management Team, while taking a supporting role in communicating the goals and functions of the Configuration Management Database (“CMDB”) to Technology department teams. The Engineer will advance the maturity of the CMDB platform and Configuration Management as a service and will also support cross-discipline continual process improvement using the CMDB. This role will be located in our Manchester office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing, administering, monitoring and troubleshooting various platform components of the Configuration Management platform, including integrations with related systems.
  • Working with Technology Subject Matter Experts (“SMEs”) and process owners to gather and analyse needs, translating these into CMDB requirements, including defining the detail of a configuration’s relationship structures to enable meaningful impact evaluation, and the Configuration Items (“CI”) attributes to be tracked.
  • Reviewing the CMDB content and data being entered to ensure on-going data integrity, and monitoring and reviewing the CMDB’s health to ensure data quality.
  • Supporting the day-to-day CMDB operational activities, ensuring the CMDB effectively supports the needs of other Service Management processes, e.g., Change Management.
  • Contributing to the design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data using system management integrations.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Configuration Management, IT Operations Management processes and CMDB implementation in medium to large enterprise environments.
  • Possess analytical skills to troubleshoot a variety of system symptoms, diagnose problems, and test, recommend, and implement solutions to technology problems.
  • Possess organisational skills to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines.

And have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (v3 or v4) or related Service Management qualification, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a certification.
  • Hands-on experience supporting CMDB and Enterprise Configuration Management, preferably utilising the ServiceNow platform.
  • General technology systems, support, and maintenance experience, including code development, preferably in a multi-site, enterprise-scale, ITIL-based environment.
  • Experience working with technology platforms in a complex technical environment.
