Equitus lands deal with Luxfer Gas Cylinders

  • Deal comes after UK’s first hydrogen-electric truck by Tevva Electric - featuring Luxfer Gas Cylinders - launches in showcase of UK’s clean tech expertise

  • Equitus will also support other Luxfer clients including Van Hool and HVS

A deal has been struck between Equitus Design Engineering and Innovations and Luxfer Gas Cylinders Division of Luxfer Holdings PLC (NYSE:LXFR).

It will see Equitus offer design support for Luxfer on numerous systems it is currently developing for sustainable transport sector clients including Tevva Electric, Van Hool and HVS.

Luxfer Gas Cylinders, an operating company of Luxfer Holdings PLC (NYSE:LXFR), works with multiple commercial vehicle manufacturers around the world to supply industry leading hydrogen cylinders while also designing hydrogen fuel systems.

It has an 80-year legacy in gas containment, has a main base in Riverside, California, manufacturing facilities in Canada and China and boasts a specialist and expanding alternative fuel facility at its Colwick, Nottingham operation.

Equitus, a London headquartered design, engineering and innovation company with bases in Manchester and Bangalore, will support Luxfer with 3D modelling and CAD Design, draughting, structural and fluid mechanics assessments.

The deal comes after the UK’s first hydrogen-electric truck by Tevva - featuring Luxfer Gas Cylinders - this month launched during a showcase of UK’s clean tech expertise.

It will be the first vehicle of its kind to be manufactured, designed and mass produced in the UK.

Jim Gregory, European Business Development Manager at Luxfer Gas Cylinders, said: “At Luxfer, we are dedicated to creating a greener world for future generations!

“With over 150,000 alternative fuel cylinders in use and over 18,000 vehicles running with Luxfer alternative fuel cylinders, Luxfer is established as the go to supplier for cylinders and systems for alternative fuel solutions.

“We are delighted, after a successful period of collaboration, to have signed an agreement with Equitus Design Engineering and Innovations.

“Their expertise will only bolster our growth ambitions during what is an exciting time for the sustainable transport sector.”

Tony Edwards is the former Vice President and General Manager of Luxfer Gas Cylinders and has been acting as an advisor and mentor to Equitus.

Raam Shankar, Equitus Founder and CEO, said: “Equitus sees this as a privilege. To be able to support forward thinking and ambitious British organisations like Luxfer as they look to create a brighter future for sustainable transport and mobility.

“This new relationship will help Luxfer accelerate their growth, whilst helping Equitus

establish themselves as a reliable and competent value provider to the sustainable transport

sector. As two UK companies we are collaboratively aligning with five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), which given that not too long ago COP 26 was held in Glasgow, is very positive.”
