Job description

The External Software Integration Team supports software developer companies who want to integrate with our systems through software that they are developing.

As an External Developer Support Analyst (Governance and Assurance), you will work as part of a wider team on Digital Relationship Management Services, to ensure the best possible service to our customers. Playing a key role supporting good governance and assurance by developers and ensuring they meet our standards and the acceptance framework.

You will be initiative-taking, a confident communicator with good people skills. The role involves triaging, prioritising, and responding to software developers’ queries – so you will need to write clearly and concisely.

You will have an eye for detail, with the ability to quickly understand and route out problems and how to navigate and use various digital tools e.g. Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, DeskPro and Jira. This is an exciting opportunity suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, has good analytic skills and enjoys process orientated assurance tasks and helping customers.

Person specification

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out due diligence activities to ensure software developers meet HMRC’s onboarding standards.

  • Managing workflow and answering queries from developers to meet SLA’s.

  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues for developers.

  • Creating and maintaining accurate customer records on DeskPro.

  • Produce high quality informative reports and dashboards.

  • Taking ownership and maintaining a Gov.uk web tool and content to ensure customers have accurate information about finding suitable tax software.

Essential Criteria

Governance and Assurance

  • Experience operating within governance, assurance, compliance, or risk management frameworks, ensuring standards and policies are applied consistently and supported by clear audit trails.

Evidence-Based Decision Making

  • Ability to analyse data and information critically, identify risks, gaps or inconsistencies, and make balanced, evidence-based recommendations and decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working collaboratively with customers, partners, or colleagues while maintaining governance requirements and controls.

Communication Skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex governance requirements in simple terms and produce clear, concise reports, records, and case documentation.

Delivery and Organisation

  • Highly organised and delivery-focused, with the ability to manage multiple tasks or cases, prioritise competing demands, work collaboratively within a team, and maintain accurate records to a high standard.
