Senior Security Architect - Department for Work and Pensions - G7

Location: Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Sheffield

Want to protect services used by millions from cyber threats? DWP is looking for a Senior Security Architect to design secure, resilient systems and lead security across large-scale digital services.

About the role

You’ll play a key role in securing modern, cloud-based services across a complex organisation, working on systems such as identity and verification. This is a senior role where you’ll shape security architecture, influence technical decisions, and ensure security is built into services from the very start.

Working in agile teams, you’ll collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to design secure solutions, improve standards, and strengthen security capability across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing secure architectures for large-scale digital services
• Embedding secure-by-design principles across products and systems
• Advising on risk, vulnerabilities and security controls
• Working with teams to develop secure solutions during discovery and delivery
• Creating architecture documentation and supporting governance
• Ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and roadmaps
• Supporting assurance activities and security reviews
• Influencing stakeholders and promoting best practice
• Mentoring others and helping grow security capability

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience as a Security Architect in complex environments
• Knowledge of cloud security, enterprise architecture and secure design
• Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to influence and communicate with senior stakeholders
• Experience shaping standards, roadmaps and governance
• Strong understanding of risk, vulnerabilities and security controls
• Passion for mentoring and developing others
• Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP) or willingness to work towards
