Location

Our headquarters is in 2, Capital Quarter, Cardiff, which has been specifically designed to meet our needs. This is where most colleagues will meet to collaborate, both with each other and with stakeholders.

As we operate across Wales, we also have limited office and collaboration space in Welsh Government offices in Llandudno Junction, Aberystwyth, Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil.

Main purpose of the job

As a member of the Data and Development Team within the Digital Directorate, you will be responsible for collaborating on the design, development, maintenance and support of software solutions to meet evolving business requirements.

You will ensure that all developments comply with information security policies and audit recommendations, and that they meet the latest security standards.

By providing high-quality systems and solutions, you will enable users from a variety of business areas to effectively fulfil their roles, thereby supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives and contributing to the continued strength and development of the tertiary education sector in Wales.

What you'll be doing

  • Working closely with the Senior Solutions Developer Manager to design, develop and maintain high-quality solutions in Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Ensuring all developments are robust, secure, and aligned with organisational policies and standards.
  • Diagnosing and resolving faults in existing solutions and debugging issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Managing projects related to solution development, ensuring timely delivery and effective resource utilisation.
  • Providing support and technical advice to users across the organisation, adapting communication style to audience needs.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to remain up to date with the latest technologies and methodologies.
  • Contributing to a culture of integrity, support, innovation, and resilience within the team.

About your team

The Digital Directorate within Medr spans three core areas: DevelopmentInformation Systems, and IT Security & Technical Services. Together, we design and manage systems, develop applications and ensure robust security, governance and compliance is in place.

The Solutions Developer Manager will join a team of four developers, and will report directly to a Senior Solutions Developer. The team will be led by the Head of Solutions Development.

Jonathan has worked at Medr for two years as a Senior Solutions Developer Manager. Jonathan brings 15 years of experience as a Software Developer and Solution Architect, with a strong background in web application development and systems integration.

Experience

  1. Experience developing enterprise solutions using Microsoft Power Platform including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages and Dataverse with a strong focus on secure, scalable and maintainable application design.
  2. Experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards, including data modelling and visualisation to support decision‑making across the organisation.
  3. Strong organisational and time management capabilities, with experience working across multiple workstreams while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of delivery.
