Recruitment has officially opened for the first cohort of the TechTrack Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship, a cross‑government programme designed to grow the next generation of cyber security professionals across the public sector.
Developed and delivered in partnership with Estio (part of BPP), this 18‑month paid apprenticeship combines formal learning with hands‑on, in‑role experience across government departments. It’s an opportunity to gain a recognised qualification, develop in‑demand cyber skills, and build a purposeful career helping to protect vital public services.
Three specialist cyber pathways
The TechTrack Cyber programme offers three distinct pathways, reflecting the different skillsets needed within modern cyber security teams:
- Security Engineer – focused on designing, building and maintaining secure systems and infrastructure.
- Risk Analyst – specialising in identifying cyber risks, carrying out assessments, and supporting compliance and assurance activity.
- Defend and Respond – centred on monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and supporting live cyber operations.
Each pathway provides structured training alongside real‑world experience, helping apprentices build practical skills while contributing to meaningful work from day one.
Earn, learn and build a cyber career
TechTrack is designed to be accessible to people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may not have followed a traditional university route. Apprentices are paid a salary, supported by experienced teams, and given the opportunity to grow their skills while studying towards a Level 4 qualification.
Apprentices like Sidra, who joined the Civil Service straight from sixth‑form college, highlight how TechTrack makes it possible to gain qualifications, learn on the job and build confidence in a professional cyber role while earning. You can watch Sidra share her experience here:
