Help design and secure the systems behind justice in the UK. At HMCTS, you’ll play a key role in shaping how security is built into digital services from the ground up, protecting data, services and infrastructure that support millions of people.
About the role
As a Security Architect, you’ll embed Secure by Design principles across HMCTS technology. Working closely with senior security leaders and technical teams, you’ll guide how secure systems are designed, built and improved, ensuring security enables innovation, not slows it down.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing security for systems, services and platforms across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments
- Advising on security controls and solutions that support business outcomes
- Guiding teams through design, implementation and ongoing use of secure systems
- Supporting compliance with standards (ISO27001, NCSC, PCI DSS, GovAssure)
- Assessing risks and influencing decisions across teams and stakeholders
- Contributing to incident response and continuous security improvements
What we’re looking for
- Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks, governance and risk
- Broad technical knowledge (especially cloud and hybrid environments)
- Knowledge of networking, identity, authentication and cryptography
- Ability to assess risk and explain security impacts clearly
- Confident communicator who can influence at all levels
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong collaboration skills
Desirable: knowledge of Secure by Design and modern delivery environments
